Floating Sea Summer Camp On Catalina!
Experience adventure, friendship, team building character building, leadership, stewardship, and live like a true biologist aboard the premiere Catalina Island Floating Sea Camp! During their amazing week aboard our ship “Enhydra”, campers will be immersed in marine biology adventures including snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, surfing, paddle boarding and much more!
Enrollment is limited to 42 campers per session!

Live Aboard A Marine Research Vessel
The Enhydra is a 112′ U.S. Coast Guard certified marine research vessel with a full galley, cabins and state rooms, large spacious decks, and is fully equipped with all the toys, games and all other supplies needed for a week of outrageous fun in the sun on Catalina Island!
Play In The Ocean & Explore The Island
Enjoy jumping off the top deck of the Wilderness Explorer, surfing, body surfing and boogie boarding, playing on rafts, paddleboards and other floatable devices around the ship, explore hidden coves while snorkeling, kayaking, discover remote island beaches, sea caves, and kelp forests both on and in the water!
Hands-On Marine Biology Activities
A week with MSA’s passionate staff and living aboard the Wilderness Explorer is enough to make anyone fall in love with the Ocean environment. During the school year our staff is teaching outdoor education to students during their school trips to Catalina Island. Summer teen camp is the perfect opportunity to develop a personal passion for marine biology!
Discover Scuba Dive
An Introductory Scuba Dive is an orientation to scuba diving that allows those who don’t have dive certification to experience diving in the ocean. Enjoy the Introductory Scuba Dive in the Casino Point Dive Park, in Avalon, one of few underwater parks in the world, and marvel at the complex marine environment found in the kelp forests.
As part of your Floating Sea Summer Camp program, participants also receive special training and an extra snorkel at an exotic island location to sharpen their skills before their first dive!
Participants must be at least 12 years of age and be medically cleared before being able to take the Introductory Scuba Dive.
What you will learn:
You learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive under the direct supervision of an Open Water Scuba Instructor.

- Breathe underwater
- How to become a certified scuba diver
About the Introductory Dive:
- The Introductory Dive includes a knowledgeable and experienced Open Water Scuba Instructor that is an expert on Catalina Island marine life
- All scuba equipment, including a thick 7mm wet suit
Our New SOAC’d Program:
Learn new skills and reach for your destiny! In our new Summer Ocean Adventure Challenge (SOAC) program your child is mentored by the MSA staff to develop altruistic character traits as they work their way up to become a counselor in training, camp counselor, and even an MSA staff member!

Enjoy the comforts of living aboard a marine research vessel as we explore several beautiful coves of Santa Catalina Island. There is no better way to experience all that Catalina has to offer!
